The problem of extremism and its most «extreme» form – terrorism is not a new phenomenon aimed at confronting humanity. For example, even in ancient times, despotic rulers and powerful figures used extremism as a means to eliminate others for the sake of power and dominance. In connection with this issue, the author conducted a scientific review of the actions of economically developed countries aimed at solving the problem of global extremism and terrorism, and their experience based on international legal norms.
The purpose of the article is to consider the significance of the experience of civilized countries aimed at protecting the life and health, rights and freedoms of a person, as well as his interests from actions of an extremist nature, in accordance with international standards. In addition to discussing the main issues, the article presents the opinions and conclusions of researchers who share their ideas on the issue of combating various forms of extremism and terrorism in the context of globalization. The results of the study show that extremist and terrorist groups cannot and will not be eliminated by means of weapons. Therefore, it is necessary to objectively study the factors that contribute to the emergence of extremism and establish a «harmonious dialogue» with them.
