Over the last decade, the lifestyle of teenagers in our country has changed significantly, the level of their physical activity has decreased, which has led to a sedentary lifestyle. Increasing motor activity and interest in sports among teenagers contributes to the formation of a healthy lifestyle of the population in the future, as well as improving the quality of life of the population. The purpose of the study is to determine gender specific motivational factors that influence the participation of teenagers in sports.
The article presents a survey of schoolchildren aged 13-17 years (N=300) in the city of Astana, conducted with the aim of studying the motives that encourage young people to play sports. According to the results of the study, it was established that parents are the main factor influencing the interest of teenagers in sports. According to studies, the factors that negatively affect the physical activity of young people are classified as follows: personal, socio-economic and geographical. According to gender, the main obstacle for girls was fatigue, laziness and limited free time, and for boys - laziness and fatigue. On the basis of the analysis of motivational factors of teenagers, the importance of taking into account physical, psychological and emotional factors when playing sports is determined. To combat such manifestations of behavior as laziness, fatigue and lack of interest, the following measures are proposed: promotion of a healthy way of life together with parents, expansion and further financing of free sports clubs and sections such as the state program «Damubala» in different regions of the country. An important role in the popularization of sports is played by media and social networks, which contribute to the positive image of people who have achieved success in the field of sports.
