The family is the main social institution that carries out spiritual, cultural, personal, physiological development of the individual. Global changes in recent years have led to the emergence of a family crisis, which has an impact on the institution of the family, family and marriage relations and causes public concern. The transformation of the Kazakhstan Family Institute has contributed to the emergence of negative trends, in addition to traditional types of family relations. One of them is an increase in the number of single- parent families consisting of single mothers. The article examines the psychological, socio-cultural reasons for
