Review procedure

1. Scientific articles submitted to the editorial office of the scientific journal “Bulletin of Abai KazNPU” of "Sociological and Political Sciences” series that meet the formal requirements, the design requirements and the indicator of originality based on verification through the system of checking for plagiarism, undergo bilateral anonymous ("blind") peer review.

2. Articles submitted to the editorial board receive an individual registration number, which provides the author with anonymity for review.

3. Scientific articles prepared in strict accordance with the requirements for articles and tested in the “Antiplagiat” system (threshold level 70%) or another licensed program are allowed for peer review.

4. The reviews are necessarily reflected in accordance with the established requirements:
- SRSTI;
- the article title;
- the abstract – not less than 100 and not more than 300 words;
- the keywords (5-10 words);
- the text of the article should include an IMRAD  (introduction, basic position, research methodology, review of scientific literature, methods, results, discussion and conclusion);
- List of references.

5. Based on the results of peer review and technical verification, the article can either be rejected, or sent to the authors for revision, or accepted for publication.

6. A manuscript sent to the authors for revision must be returned in a corrected form within a period not exceeding 10 working days. After this period, it is considered as a newly submitted. The revised manuscript must be accompanied by a letter from the authors describing the corrections made and containing answers to all comments of the reviewers.

7. The presence of the positive review does not provide a sufficient basis for article publication, the final decision on the expediency of the publication is made by the journal editorial board.

8. After the editorial board decides positively on the article publication, the staff of Scientific and Methodical Department informs the author about it and specifies publication terms.

9. The materials submitted for consideration and unpublished data cannot be used by reviewers in personal research without the written consent of the author(s).

10. Peer review results are confidential. Reviewers, in the event of a conflict of interest, are not allowed to review the manuscript.

REQUIREMENTS FOR REVIEW

The reviewer must comply with ethical requirements in the field of peer review, as well as follow the journal's review policy. 

It is recommended to use the review template for reviewing (download here: review form) . If agreed with the editorial board, it is possible to submit a review in free form.

The review should objectively evaluate the scientific article and contain a comprehensive analysis of the correspondence of the article content to the thematic areas of the journal; compliance of the content with the declared topic; quality of abstracts and keywords; novelty and practical significance of the research results; availability of links to Kazakhstani and foreign  bibliographic sources and their compliance with GOST standards.

The clarity of the presentation of scientific material, the presence of grammatical, punctuation and logical errors are also assessed.

The review is signed by the reviewer, scanned and submitted to the editorial board, and a message is sent to the journal’s online system.

Based on the results of the peer review, the reviewer submits one of the following decisions for consideration by the editorial board of the journal:
- accept for publication;
- conditionally accept (send for revision);
- reject.
